Respect one's practices

The Promotion of Professionalism in the Implementation and Delivery of Basic Education Programs and Services has been issued as DepEd Order (DO) No. 049, Series of 2022 ("Avoid relationships, interaction, and communication, including following social media with learners outside of school settings, except if they are relatives. "). To further strengthen professionalism within the department and integrate it into all areas of work and practice in the department, DO 049, Series of 2022, is amended to include additional provisions on employment and personnel relations, as well as the responsible use of social media.

When 2020 came, we faced a COVID pandemic, so all students stopped in our study because of COVID. Only Facebook Messenger allowed all teachers to communicate with students. We're able to cope through our group chats. Even now, when students are sick and our teacher advises us to stay at home, we can still go along with sending videos about the lesson and activity sheets. So, they can still perform what we are doing in school. However, I disagree with this Department of Education Order No. 49 Series of 2022 because social media is the only way to communicate between the student and the teacher outside the school.

All teachers must build a relationship with their students so they can get to know each other better, inside or outside of school. So outside of school, social media is the only way for them to communicate. What if we make friends with our teacher? For me, it's better to be friends with our teacher so we can communicate more with them and feel more comfortable. But we still have to follow this Department of Education order, even if most don't agree with it.
